Register to vote
If you have never registered in Alabama, or you have moved since you last voted, register or update your address now. The online form on the Secretary of State’s site takes about five minutes and needs your Alabama driver’s license or non-driver ID number.
You can also register on paper at your county Board of Registrars, any driver’s license office, or by mailing in the state form. Whichever way you go, do it before the deadline: registrations received after that date will not be on the books for this election.

Check your registration
Even if you have voted before, take a minute to confirm your registration is active and your address is current. The state’s voter lookup shows your registration status, your polling place, and the districts you vote in, including whether you are in State Senate District 10.
If anything is wrong, such as an old address or a name change, fix it before the registration deadline so there are no surprises at the polls.

Find your polling place
Polling places are assigned by your home address, and they can change between elections. Look yours up ahead of time so you are not hunting for it on Election Day.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. If you are in line at 7 p.m., stay in line: you are entitled to vote. Bring a valid photo ID such as an Alabama driver’s license, non-driver ID, photo voter ID card, U.S. passport, or military ID.

Vote absentee
If you will be out of the county on Election Day, are working a shift of ten hours or more that overlaps polling hours, are ill or disabled, are a caregiver, or are a military or overseas voter, you can vote absentee. Apply through your county’s Absentee Election Manager (usually at the circuit clerk’s office).
Your application must include a copy of your photo ID. Once your ballot arrives, follow the instructions carefully: the affidavit envelope must be signed and either notarized or witnessed by two adults, or the ballot will not count.

Report voter fraud
Voter fraud is a crime under Alabama law. If you see something at the polls or in your community that does not look right, such as someone voting more than once, voting in another person’s name, pressuring a voter, or handling absentee ballots that are not theirs, report it. The Secretary of State’s Voter Fraud Unit reviews every report and forwards it to law enforcement and the Attorney General for investigation.
